about

Meridian is decisively straight-forward. Erickson's well organized and often melancholic lyrics are biographical and flirtatious -cautiously confessional. He writes from a nostalgic, tongue-in-cheek vantage point about the weight of love and occupations with foreign places. Pavek holds an instrumental aptitude and proficiency in musical composition that shapes and illuminates the simple, sentimental structure of each song. Lyrically the album is a nod towards Dylan, musically it’s a touch of Philip Glass, and emotionally it’s a sixteen hour car-drive with Chris Isaak and Ryan Adams. This is an album you can lean against, drink alone to -a soundtrack for the relentless romantic in all of us.

Track Name: This Old Medicine
Lay my head beneath the sand
If there’s something down there I could understand
'Cause I need something more than this old medicine
To get where you are

Put my temper down to rest
I’ve sixty more years to be upset
Is there a system or something you’ve written
To get where you are

Cross my hands and calm my chest
I saw you walking to me in a bulletproof dress
And you must have, at all times two kinds of alibis
To get where you are

Drop the sail and take us south
There’s little left here to cry about
Some say I’m just a bit too crazy
To get where you are
Track Name: Bridges
In this breeze we’re leaning on dominos
And all you need I’m taking it through the nose

Over time I could learn to charm you child
But the city fines little kids for running wild

So baby head home

If bridges burn the Rosmor down now
The weatherman will let you know
And breathing can’t come easy
When you lay alone

So what comes next, could we kill another cigarette
With too much said, could you fit it on a letterhead?

Over time I could learn to charm you child
But the city fines little kids for running wild

So baby head home

If bridges burn the Rossmor down now
The weatherman will let you know
And breathing can’t come easy
When you lay alone
Track Name: Sleepyhead
Sleepyhead, tell me I look good in your bed
Or you’re bound be lonely, love

Sleepyhead, tell me that I talk like a senator and I make you
Woozy when I move my mouth and curse you out
This is why I love you now

Sleepyhead, wear your thinnest dress
You’re obviously lonely tonight

Sleepyhead, wake up the mess we’ve made is filling up the streets
And the camera men are crying out and want to know if
This is why I love you now
This how I love you now

Sleepyhead, bring me my blue booze bottle
I’m getting you loaded tonight

Sleepyhead, bring me my sweet amphetamines, and just stay
Dark haired and crazy-eyed 'cause don't you know that
This is why I love you now
This is how I love you now
Track Name: West Coast Song
You asked me for a West Coast song
Where the coastline looked like Oregon
But could we rocket to the moon, just like we use to do?
It’s out of line -but I love you

Somewhere, I was beginning to think
You were trying to keep me here

Now we’re moving through a restless fog
I thought it was the night but I could be wrong
The summer left too soon, you look at me like I’m leaving too
I’m out of time -but I love you
Track Name: Sad Eyed Lady
Tongue-tied, sad eyed gypsy
Dance inside my lonesome mind
Send word if you miss me
Either way I’ll make you mine

Here I am, there you are
Sad-eyed lady don’t fall apart

Cynical, cyclical lover
Get your bed out of my mind
If I call Boston in an hour
Should I be looking for a wife

Here I am, there you are
Sad-eyed lady don’t fall apart

Every time I’m looking for something reddish-rouge and bare, I’m in your hair
Lonesome silos and bittersweet byroads, you were there taking my air

Here I am, there you are
Sad-eyed lady don’t fall apart

Bitter silohs, long lonesome byroads you were there
Taking my air, oh no.

Here I am, there you are
Sad-eyed lady don’t fall apart
Track Name: Blue Motel
Let me be your stupid hero
Let me be your lost love split right down the middle
I will not pretend to
Care about those things that are bound to kill you now

I thought I’d let you know about yourself
Cause I’d sure like to know
Hell, what are you thinking about, right now

So let me buy you flowers
Let me buy your time I could talk for hours
You’re leaning on your coffee
You’re talking so fast I think you love me, now

I thought I’d let you know about yourself
Cause I’d sure like to know
Hell, what are you thinking about, right now

Let me be your medication
Let me be your piece of dramamine, lost conversation
I've got to leave this city
I've got too many girls who are out kill me, now

I thought I’d let you know about yourself
Cause I’d sure like to know
Hell, what are you thinking about, right now
Track Name: Meridian
She said, I think I’ll be a senator
I said, Ok don’t drive me wild
She said, I’m so sick of all the shit you get me in
You’re fucking crazy and the sailboats are coming in

She said, why don't we both be astronauts
I said, It's not that easy, babe
She said, I'm so sick of St. Paul and I need a cigarette
I said, I just can't seem to get you out of my head

Honey you are my Meridian
I look to you to count the stars
Honey you are my Meridian
Sailors, kings and ships are guided by your gentle hips
Oh, Mama

She said, I think I'll get my feet wet
I said, One more bath before breakfast
She said, I’m so sick of you're love and I need to go to bed
I said, I just can't seem to shake you out of my head

Honey you are my Meridian
I look to you to count the stars
Honey you are my Meridian
Sailors, kings and ships are guided by your gentle hips
Oh, Mama
